We’re all sick in our household. I thought I heard Little Miss wheezing in between coughs yesterday, so I determined she needed to see a doctor. I decided that it would be easier for me to take her to Urgent Care on a Saturday instead of taking off work on Monday.
There is an Urgent Care about 1 mile from our house. I decided to walk there, as I haven’t been getting much exercise since I began hacking up my lungs again (I had bronchitis for 3 weeks, was well for 2 and am back at it again).
I walked into Urgent Care, and was told my insurance wasn’t covered there. I was then told I could go to the Urgent Care downtown, which I know from past experience receives A LOT of traffic. I determined I didn’t have enough time for that, so I paid the exorbant fee and waited.
We were the only people in the waiting room.
And we waited. And waited. You see, this Urgent Care is at the bottom of Mt. Rose Highway, a mere 15 minute drive from Mt. Rose Ski Resort. There were two ski injuries in there being treated with XRAYs, which meant we waited over about two hours in total.
So I paid too much money to mention, waited two hours to find out that my baby is fine, and no treatment is necessary.
I’m glad she is fine, but was so hoping for at least a prescription to help her feel better. Bah.
Anyway, last night was both of our company Christmas parties. I had luckily arranged for a sitter two months in advance (she had 10 other requests to babysit that night), and I was really looking forward to it. Too bad the night was really tainted by our illnesses. I had a headache sink in towards the beginning of the night, and by the time we were driving home, I was clutching my head in pain with each coughing fit. It is now 5:20 am, and I am wide awake. I think something in the cocktail of drugs I took when I got home in a desperate attempt to stop the coughing and headache was actually a stimulant, as I had very fitful sleep, and here on my one day to sleep in, I’m wide awake at 5:20 in the morning.
It snowed about two inches at our house overnight, and JB is planning on skiing today. I would love to ski if I didn’t think I would leave a lung or two on the slopes. So, I think I’ll be spending the day with my daughter inside with the fireplace cranking. Doesn’t sound too bad to me!
